RPGs are one of my favorite types of game to play. I love taking on the perspective of a new or unique character, whether I’m playing a fantasy character or a more serious one. In Nickelodeon's 2006 hit, Barnyard, you get to play a cow through a main story arch as well as several related mini-games.
While Barnyard is a unique game, it’s basically Grand Theft Auto but for kids. It’s also hilariously funny, with humor that will get adults laughing while still being appropriate for kids. There’s a lot to do, so sit back and get ready for hours of entertainment.
Becoming a Party Animal
At the beginning of the game you get to choose your own character, including customizing the gender and breed you want your cow to be. You then become a normal cow by day, and a party animal by night. The game gives you several missions to play the follow along a main story arch, and mini-games you can play after that.

The game references the movie it came from often, so while it’s not necessary for you to play, you may find the game more enjoyable if you watch the movie first. In the movie, Otis becomes the leader of the barnyard, but in the movie you have the opportunity to become a leader. In the very end, Otis returns and you and all the other animals must face the final Boss together.
Lots of Game Options
Although the main purpose of the game is to complete the missions, there are actually lots of entertaining things you can. You can explore different areas, squirt milk at bystanders, and harass humans behind their backs. You can also collect items in the game, and even unlock a new character through game play. This game has a lot of content, and you can spend hours and hours playing it all the way through. All in all, this is a wonderful game to play. It will bring back nostalgia for you, and be fun and entertaining for your kids.
I really enjoyed playing this game. There are lots of characters to meet, references to the movie to help keep it fresh, and tons of things to do. I also loved the fact that it’s a game my kids can enjoy too, since we can talk about it instead of headbutting over what games are and are not appropriate for them.
Pros
If you’re buying this to play with your kids, it’s possible you may find some of the sexual references uncomfortable, even if it’s likely to go right over their heads.
Kids also sometimes find the “night time” parts of the game scary, or may be afraid to battle the coyotes.
Cons
Otherwise, there aren’t all that many cons to the game. There are over 11 hours of game play in this game, and there’s endless things to do in the game.
It’s also extremely gratifying to what your ‘bar’ grow from a seedy, derelict place into a modern and thriving playground.

I downloaded this file. When I mounted the disk and clicked 'setup', the game told me that the setup file was not found, and therefore it could not install. That's odd.
